Is Hormone Therapy For Me?

Hormonal balance is critical for optimal health and wellness. The different phases of our reproductive cycles – onset of puberty, childbearing and menopause – can cause abrupt changes to the balance of our hormones, causing physically and emotional symptoms that may be uncomfortable.

What Are Hormones, Anyway?

The glands in your body like the ovaries, thyroid and pituitary produce chemicals called hormones that tell your body how to react to certain situations. Hormones help your body regulate your metabolism, fertility, fluid balance, blood sugar and mood. As a woman, your hormones, particularly estrogen and progesterone, fluctuate throughout your lifetime. As many women age and experience a decline in hormone production, they experience mood swings, depression, anxiety, insomnia, weight gain, fatigue, menstrual changes, memory changes, hair and skin changes, sensitivity to temperate and hot flashes.

Treating Hormone Imbalance

In many cases, the symptoms of hormonal imbalance are treated rather than the imbalance itself. This can lead to side effects from medications and more symptoms that need to be managed with additional medications. Identifying and treating underlying hormonal imbalances can alleviate unwanted symptoms to improve your quality of life.

At MIRI Women’s Health, specialists in hormone replacement therapy can help you make sense of your hormones and create a customized, balanced hormonal plan to support your needs during menopause or following a hysterectomy. If you’ve decided it’s time to treat your hormonal imbalance and finally get the care you deserve, we are here to create a customized plan for you.
